Obituary for Thomas Ray Carner

Thomas R. Carner age 69 of Pillager was called home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2019. Thomas was born on January 16th, 1950 in Brainerd, MN to Raymond & June (Glanville) Carner. He married Debra Hines on January 24, 1981.
Tom loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking and most recently watching ships come into the harbor in Duluth. Tom worked many different jobs and considered himself a “Jack of all trades, master of none”, he especially enjoyed his time at Pillager School and made friends with many members of the Pillager community. Tom loved the Minnesota North Shore and enjoyed the waterfalls and hiking trails. Tom had many joys in life, but none topped being a grandpa. Tom loved to brag about his grandchildren, and eventually his great grandchildren. They truly were his pride and joy.
Thomas is survived; and will be greatly missed by the love of his life Debra; son Pat (Emily) Carner of Bemidji; daughters: Penny Carner, Becky (Patrick) Nash, Rae (Joe) Bennett and Bobbie Spencer (Ryan Tacheny) all of Brainerd, and Pamela (Lawrence) Madison of St. Cloud; mother, June Carner of Brainerd; 23 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brothers: Ron (Peggy) Carner, Dale (Diana) Carner, Rick (Lillie) Carner, and Loren Carner all of Brainerd; sisters; Judy Maske of Brainerd, Anita Chamberlain of Crosby, and Virginia Borg of Ironton; brother in-law, Roger Britton; sister in-law, Margy Carner, both of Brainerd; special friends:Tyrone (Pete) Spencer of Brainerd, Kevin & Lila Lockwood of Pequot Lakes, and Naida Kargel of Pine River.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father Raymond; brother Virgil; sister, Lorna Britton; son, Todd; grandson, Evan Spencer; father in-law, Herman Hines Sr. and best friend, Chuck Kargel.
Memorial service for Tom will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Halvorson Taylor Life Events Center (512 S 8th St, Brainerd) at 12pm, visitation will be one hour prior to services.
